Ventura Fire celebrates 150 years

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Ventura Fire Department, the oldest in Ventura County! From its start in 1875 with just 53 volunteers to the professional team of over 100 full-time employees today, our fire department's history reflects Ventura's growth.

To honor this milestone, firefighters have begun wearing a redesigned commemorative badge celebrating generations of service. We're proud to recognize 150 years of protecting Ventura!

Telegraph Road improvements underway

This major street improvement project is part of our ongoing effort to make Ventura’s roadways safer, smoother, and more accessible for all.

Stretching from Ashwood Avenue to Hill Road, the project includes new pavement, upgraded sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps, refreshed medians with drought-tolerant landscaping, and new buffered bike lanes to improve safety.

These improvements are funded by California’s SB1 Gas Tax and Ventura’s Measure O local sales tax. Construction is expected to continue through early 2026. Check out our live map to track progress and plan your route.
