Fall-Leaves-2022-MikeTittel_FishCreek

Hello Destination,

Thank you to everyone who participated in our town hall sessions this past month. It has been extremely valuable to gain insight from individuals throughout the community to help guide the development of a Door County Destination Stewardship Plan.

The town hall events, along with our resident survey conducted in May, continues our focus on building successful long-term partnerships and collaboration that are created on a strong foundation of transparency, shared values, and effective communication. We want to continue to foster meaningful and productive relationships between all our partners, our residents, organizations, and stakeholders. Having a shared purpose is crucial. A successful partnership requires alignment of goals and objectives. When all of us share a common purpose and vision, it becomes easier to work towards a collective goal and make informed decisions. As a community shared values organization, alignment with our community is a major pillar in our strategic plan.

Throughout all the town hall meetings, there was a genuine desire to collaborate, and everyone was motivated to bring their unique strengths and perspectives to the table, enhancing the quality of our process.

The belief in the potential of this engagement was so important and, with the number of people that attended the town halls, it clearly demonstrated that people wanted to invest their time, effort, and opinions to help us create a successful plan and confirmed that the passion we all have for Door County is truly unique. There was mutual respect for all of our expertise and viewpoints, along with open communication and a willingness to listen. And a desire to help guide us in alignment with our community.

Our objectives for the Door County Destination Stewardship Plan will highlight the following:

• Focus on sustainable tourism development.

• Encourage strong engagement from industry and community leaders.

• Provide a comprehensive evaluation of Door County.

• Develop a stronger understanding of external environments as well as internal capabilities.

• Create a shared vision and scope of work for the Plan.

• Consider future criteria for the Door County Community Investment Fund initiatives.

• Ensure defined priorities and actionable strategic initiatives.

A shared purpose, constructive feedback, accountability, belief, and mutual respect successfully drive effective long-term partnerships and collaboration. Let’s continue to work together to ensure that Door County is the place our residents want to live and the destination our visitors love to experience.

Lands' End X Door County

We kicked off our brand partnership with Wisconsin-based apparel company Lands’ End on September 19th - 22nd. The mutual alignment and focus on the importance of sustainability is what spurred the conversation and eventually led to a fun, unique, and picturesque experience for 14 incredible Lands’ End brand ambassadors.

The ambassadors flew in from all over the U.S. for a first-time experience in Door County. They were introduced to the visual splendor, charming communities, unique attractions, one-of-a-kind businesses, and the kind folks that make up our peninsula and surrounding islands…..all while adorned in Lands’ End attire. The entire experience was shared across each of their social media channels, showcasing both the Door County destination as well as the Lands’ End brand and apparel. Additionally, Door County will be featured as part of Lands’ End’s fall collection online. Thank you to all the local businesses involved, which helped make this a success!

Time flies when you're busy, so here's a reminder to Pull Up Your Listing Page on DoorCounty.com to verify that potential customers are finding your latest information on our website. In addition to accuracy, ask a friend or colleague to review your description. Ask them if anything is missing or if they have a suggestion to make it more enticing to someone who hasn't been to your business before. And nothing draws in a new customer like photos. There is no charge to have a dozen or more photos, so grab your phone and snap a few fresh pictures - and don't forget a selfie or two! Including a friendly picture of you and your staff sends a powerfully inviting message to a new customer.

Do you accept Door County Gift Certificates? If so, please make sure the We Accept Door County Gift Certificates badge is displayed on your listing page - which ensures that your business is also listed on our Gift Certificate page. If you don't accept them, why not? We promptly reimburse you 100% of the face value. There is no service fee, and they never expire!

Updates and photos can be emailed directly to Cathy Lynch at cathy@doorcounty.com - along with the name of your business - and which location, if you have more than one.
