City of Vista Unveils Innovative Housing Pilot Program
The City of Vista is proud to announce the launch of its Housing Innovation Pilot Program, offering new opportunities in Master Leasing, Home Share, and Housing Navigation in partnership with Townspeople. This initiative is designed to support individuals interested in shared housing arrangementsâa living situation where two or more people share common spacesâby providing a regional, person-centered system for housemate matching and housing location alignment built on the principles of Housing First. Developed as part of the San Diego Shared Housing Collaborative, the program is open to adults age 18 and up who are experiencing homelessness, whether on the streets or in shelters, and who have a reliable source of income through employment, government assistance, social security, or rental assistance. While the program is dedicated to guiding participants on their journey toward stable housing, please note that financial subsidies are not available. For more details and to explore this opportunity, please visit the program links below.

Spring Into Leadership with the Vista Leadership Academy

As a participant, you will be able to do the following:
- Engage with elected officials, the City Manager, and department directors who steer our city.
- Tour key city facilities, the Vista Business Park, and Vista's historic downtown.
- Discuss pressing issues such as planning and growth, traffic, infrastructure, and city finances.

Free Mulch & Compost Program Resumes February 28
The City of Vista and EDCO Disposal are joining forces to help your garden thrive with a free mulch and compost giveaway from February 28 to March 2 at the vacant lot located at Vale Terrace Drive and Williamston Street, with hours open from dawn until dusk.
This is a self-serve program. Bring your own containers, gloves, and shovels to load up on mulch and compost. If you plan to haul mulch in an open truck bed, donât forget to bring a tarp for a secure load. Please note, commercial vehicles will not be permitted at the event.
Mulch is a great resource for any garden. Just 2-3 inches of mulch not only helps control weeds but also conserves water by retaining soil moisture, preventing erosion, and moderating soil temperature.
Compost improves plant growth and health by supplying vital nutrients in a stable organic form. It also reduces erosion and aids in water retention, giving your garden the boost it needs to flourish.
In case of rain, the event will be postponed.
For more information, please call Public Works at 760.639.6177.
