Public Works Delivers for Vista in 2024/25

The City of Vista’s Public Works Department is hard at work every day keeping our community safe, clean, and thriving. From maintaining parks and roads to repairing facilities, managing wastewater systems, and caring for the City’s fleet, Public Works is behind the scenes making sure Vista runs smoothly. Their efforts touch nearly every part of daily life—whether it’s enjoying freshly resurfaced courts at Brengle Terrace Park, driving on safer roadways, or seeing Main Street lit and landscaped.

In 2024/25, Public Works delivered major accomplishments across all divisions, including the conversion of tennis courts into eight new pickleball courts, the replacement of five roofs at the Wave Waterpark, the cleaning of 250 miles of sewer pipe, and the launch of the City’s new Community Mulch and Compost Giveaway Program. These projects, along with thousands of service requests completed, reflect the department’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and quality of life.

Registration Open for Coastal Cleanup Day

The City of Vista is proud to join I Love A Clean San Diego for the 41st Annual Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 20, from 9 am to 12 pm. Volunteers will gather at the Buena Vista Creek Trail (closest address: 1280 E. Hacienda Drive, Vista, CA 92081). The meeting spot is at the intersection of three trails off Hacienda Drive, directly across from the Bella Terra apartments.

Coastal Cleanup Day is the largest single environmental cleanup in San Diego County and part of a global movement led by The Ocean Conservancy. Every year, hundreds of thousands of volunteers around the world remove pollution from local ecosystems, with California data submitted to the California Coastal Commission to support the world’s largest marine debris database.

A second, non-City sponsored cleanup will also take place at Brengle Terrace Park, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive.

Grab your gloves, bring some friends, and be part of this worldwide effort to protect our environment while making a difference right here in Vista.

Give Your Child a Smart Start: 2025/26 Early Education Enrollment Now Open

The City of Vista’s Early Childhood Education program is now enrolling for the 2025/26 school year, offering curriculum-based learning for children as young as 12 months old. Through hands-on activities, interactive play, and guided instruction, our programs are designed to spark curiosity and build the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Whether it’s social interaction, creativity, or early academics, we provide a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Our Smart Start program (ages 3–4) introduces essential readiness skills, including letter and name recognition, listening, following instructions, and fine motor development. For older children, Ready Set Learn (ages 4–5) prepares students for kindergarten with a strong focus on language, math, reading, writing, and science—equipping them with the skills and confidence to succeed in elementary school. (Please note children must be fully potty-trained, without the use of pull-ups, to enroll in these programs.)

For toddlers and caregivers, Little Learners offers a chance to bond and grow together. Parents, grandparents, and guardians are invited to share memorable experiences with their little ones through circle time, arts and crafts, storybooks, and music. With options for every stage, the City’s Early Childhood Education program is dedicated to giving Vista’s youngest learners a smart start toward a bright future.
