Vista Invites Applications for Planning Commission
The City of Vista is accepting applications for its Planning Commission, an advisory body that plays a vital role in shaping the community’s future.
The Planning Commission is responsible for recommending to the City Council plans for the regulation of Vista’s growth, development, and beautification. The Commission also hears and takes action on certain applications, including subdivisions of land, site development plans, special use permits, and variances.
This volunteer opportunity is open to Vista residents age 18 and older. Applications are due by October 20, 2025.

City Council Workshop to Cover Update on Vista's Strategic Plan Addressing Homelessness

The City Council will hold a workshop meeting on Vista's Strategic Plan Addressing Homelessness. The meeting is open to the public and will be livestreamed on YouTube and on Zoom. The public is invited to participate in person or onlne.

Vista Fire Rescue Opens its Doors for Fire Prevention Month
This October, Vista Fire Rescue invites you to celebrate Fire Prevention Month at our Open House Saturdays, a free, family-friendly event!
Bring the whole family to explore Vista’s fire stations, meet the firefighter/paramedics, EMTs, leadership team, and support staff who keep our community safe, and enjoy hands-on demonstrations that bring fire safety to life. Learn valuable tips on fire prevention and wildfire protection, check out fire engines and equipment up close, and take home safety knowledge along with fun prizes and snacks.

Overnight Road Paving Scheduled on Vista Streets
The City’s contractor will be completing overnight paving work on two key roadways. Crews will be paving E. Vista Way from Williamston Street to Taylor Street between 8 pm and 5 am, with work expected to finish the evening of September 29 into the morning of September 30.
Next, crews will pave S. Melrose Drive from Las Palmas Drive to Sunset Drive from September 30 through October 2, also between 8 pm and 5 am.
This overnight schedule is designed to minimize traffic disruptions during the day. Drivers are encouraged to use caution when traveling through work zones and to allow extra time.

October at the McClellan Senior Center
The Gloria McClellan Senior Center is keeping October full of opportunities to stay active, connected, and engaged. From daily weekday meals to fitness classes, health screenings, cultural events, and special programs, there’s something for everyone this fall. Lunch at the Park Terrace Café
Join friends and neighbors for a nutritious lunch served weekdays at noon. Meals are just $4 for adults 60+ and $8 for those under 60. Transportation to and from lunch is available making it easy to enjoy good food and good company.

Stay energized with classes designed for older adults of all levels:

This free six-week program continues in October and is aimed at building confidence and connections through engaging presentations, activities, and discussion. Sessions include an optional lunch at noon, followed by dessert and the program from 1–2 p.m.:

- Oct. 13 – Safe Home & Fall Prevention with Vista Fire Rescue & experts in aging care

Cultural Event: Día de los Muertos
Celebrate culture and memory at the Sugar Skull Making Workshop on Friday, Oct. 17, and Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. This two-day experience includes crafting and decorating colorful sugar skulls to honor loved ones. The 2025 Moonlight Concert Series is wrapping up with three unforgettable nights you won’t want to miss!

Wicked Sing-Along – Thursday, October 2 at 7 pm
Ahead of November’s big-screen release of Wicked: For Good, join fellow fans at The Moonlight for a magical sing-along celebrating one of Broadway’s most beloved musicals. All tickets are $15. Doors open at 6 pm.
Free on-site parking, complimentary lawn chairs with lawn tickets, and the option to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks make Moonlight concerts the perfect night out.
