Meet the CMAA CEO Candidates

Dr. Robert Falcone is preparing to end his tenure as CEO of CMA and Affiliates by the end of 2024. Through his leadership, CMAA has thrived and even added an additional affiliate, Made for Medicine, this year. We are poised to continue our significant impact on the health of the community.

Selecting an individual to step into this role and continue our success is vital. Therefore, a well thought out process was started in late 2023.

We now invite our physician membership to assist in the selection process, as your input is critical.

We have arranged dates to meet two candidates, each of whom we feel would bring a wealth of abilities to our organizations. There is a separate night for each candidate in which they will give a brief statement and entertain questions. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

  • June 12 -  5:30-8:00pm
  • June 17 -  5:30-8:00pm

We Are Good Health How the Columbus Medical Association Helps Foster Mutual Support

As the healthcare workforce continues to dwindle and burnout rates increase, it has never been more important for physicians to properly care for their mental, emotional, and physical health. It is why Dr. Stephanie Costa, alongside the Columbus Medical Association, set out on a mission to help create a peer support program. What started as physician ideas to help their peers, blossomed into a program to improve overall physician well-being.

In mid-2023, CMA, in partnership with the Ohio Professionals Health Program (OhioPHP), introduced Doc to Doc. This free, confidential peer support program connects physicians with trained peers who offer empathetic guidance.

SB 60: Scope of Practice

Ohio Senate Bill 60 would establish licensure by the State Medical Board for a new allied practitioner: certified mental health assistants (CMHAs). The legislation does not outline any education and training requirements for this new practitioner and would give them prescriptive authority.

If you would like to contact your senator to let them know your thoughts on this bill, you can click here.
