Deadwood Citywide Garage Sale

There will be a citywide job fair from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the Deadwood Welcome Center. This is open to all Deadwood businesses, organizations and people looking for work. For more information on how to reserve a spot or job listings available, visit deadwood.com/events


Deadwood Craft Beer Fest: Hops and Hogs

Enjoy craft beer paired with delicious bacon dishes at the Deadwood Craft Beer Fest: Hops and Hogs on May 16-17, 2025 from noon to 6 p.m. across Deadwood. Attendees can sample different drinks and foods at participating locations throughout the event. 


General admission tickets are only available for Saturday, May 17, and are $60 per person. Attendees receive an event pass, tasting card, schedule and open container cup. Tickets are limited, so reserve yours soon. 


Friday, May 16, is only available to VIP ticket holders. It starts at 6 p.m. at the Nugget Bar, and will feature 16 beer selections, appetizers and a beer glass; it also includes attendance on Saturday. Tickets are $110 and limited to 50.

Outlaw Square Summer Kickstart Weekend

Deadwood’s Outlaw Square is kicking off its summer concert season with free concerts on May 23-24, 2025. 


Country star Ned LeDoux will headline the Friday, May 23, concert. The son of rodeo and country music star Chris LeDoux, Ned LeDoux continues his father’s tradition of imbuing authentic western and ranch life into his music. Well-received albums include Buckskin and Safe Haven. 


On Saturday, May 24, rock band Night Ranger will take the stage. This best-selling band’s hits include ā€œSister Christianā€, ā€œ(You Can Still) Rock in Americaā€ and ā€œDon’t Tell Me You Love Meā€. 

Both concerts start at 8 p.m. And did we mention they are completely FREE? Not a bad way to start the summer. 


The weekly concert series will continue on May 28th with a local Tom Petty cover band, starting at 6:30 p.m. 


Black Hills Motorcycle Show

We obviously love motorcycles here in the Black Hills, so what better way to spend Memorial Day weekend than with a motorcycle show? The Black Hills Motorcycle Show is from noon to 8 p.m. on May 24, 2025, at the Deadwood Mountain Grand. 


Black Hills Motorcycle Show Continued...

The third-annual event will include custom bikes, nearly 40 vendors, and a live performance from local favorite, the Brandon Jones Band. 

A family-friendly event, the day will include a Kids’ Corner with a bouncy castle, historic re-enactors of local legends like Calamity Jane, and other fun activities. For the grown-ups, there will be special drink vendors and a chance to meet Nick Trask of Trask Performance.

Back When They Bucked: An All-Day Rodeo

There’s nothing better than rodeo season in South Dakota. The PRCA Back When They Bucked rodeo series is back in Deadwood for its fifth season on May 25, 2025. Held at the ā€˜Days of 76 Event Complex, this is hosted by the Western Legacy Foundation to raise funds for youth in western South Dakota. 


The rodeo starts at 10 a.m. with WPRA ladies’ breakaway roping, followed by South Dakota High School rodeo breakaway roping and saddle bronc riding at 2 p.m., and the Xtreme Saddle Bronc Match and WPRA breakaway roping at 3 p.m.

Mickelson Trail Marathon

Theory of a Deadman

High-energy rock band Theory of a Deadman will perform at 8 p.m. on May 31, 2025, at the Deadwood Mountain Grand. Known for their eclectic mix of music styles, including country, acoustic, grunge and alternative, their No. 1 hits include ā€œBad Girlfriendā€, ā€œLowlifeā€, ā€œRx (Medicate)ā€ and ā€œHistory of Violenceā€. Their most recent album, ā€œDinosaurā€, came out in 2023.


Tickets are $50-$70 and are available at Ticketmaster. Attendees must be at least 21 years old.

May Deawood History: The Golden Star Mill


Milling is used to extract the gold from the rock in which it’s embedded, and continues to be an important part of gold mining. According to the South Dakota Historical Society, hardrock milling started in South Dakota in 1875 with the Black Hills gold rush.
