Happy Independence Day! Come to Deadwood and enjoy a weekend-long holiday celebration that includes a parade, concert and free movie. 

On July 4, 2025, at 3 p.m., the parade will start at the Days of ‘76 Event Complex, go down Main Street then continue on Highway 14 through Central City and into Lead. Keep in mind that Main Street will be closed to through traffic, so get here early and bring your own lawn chair. 

At 6 p.m. that day, there will be a free showing of the popular ‘90s baseball movie “The Sandlot” at Outlaw Square. 

The party continues on July 5th with a free concert at Outlaw Square with headliners Starship, featuring Mickey Thomas. 

“But wait, what about fireworks” you say? Don’t worry. Our friends in Lead are once again hosting the best Fourth of July bash in the Black Hills with their annual Gold Camp Jubilee on July 3-4, 2025.

“In 1926 Homestake Mining Company threw a party to celebrate 50 years of mining called the Golden Jubilee. In memory of that amazing event, we now organize the Gold Camp Jubilee. This festival celebrates our iconic golden history of mining and our amazing community,” according to the Gold Camp Jubilee website. 

There will be a classic car show, live music, family-friendly activities, food trucks, bounce houses, outdoor games, and more all throughout Lead, culminating in an amazing fireworks show over the Open Cut starting at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4.

If you prefer baseball before your fireworks (because what’s more American than that combination?) head over to Spearfish, where they’ll shoot off fireworks following the Spearfish Sasquatch game that starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, at the Black Hills Power Sports Complex. Or you can visit Sturgis for the city’s big fireworks show on Friday, July 4; fireworks are launched from the fairgrounds on Ballpark Road.

Deadwood 3-Wheeler Rally

Deadwood Blues Festival

This three-day, citywide event will celebrate blues music from July 11-13, 2025. There will be over a dozen local, regional and national blues bands playing at venues across town, ending with a concert by Samantha Fish and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram at Outlaw Square.

Spearfish Canyon Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk

This half marathon is held annually, with proceeds going to the Northern Hills Area CASA Program. CASA, which stands for court appointed special advocates, serves abused and neglected children who need another voice. Northern Hills CASA serves eight counties in western South Dakota.

Days of ‘76 Rodeo and Parades

The legendary Days of ‘76 rodeo and parade is July 22-26, 2025, at the Days of ‘76 Event Complex in Deadwood. 

Join us for 5 nights of PRCA rodeo fun, which includes historic re-enactments and memorable entertainment in between events where you can watch the best cowboys and cowgirls in the business compete. Themed nights include Family Night on Tuesday, July 22; Military and First Responder Appreciation Day on Wednesday, July 21; and Tri-State Livestock News Night on Thursday, July 24.

There will also be two parades, one starting at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, and one starting at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. The parade starts at the Days of ‘76 Event Complex, travels up U.S. Highway 14A onto Deadwood Main Street, turns east on Pine Street, then turns north onto U.S. Highway 85 where it ends.
