Chronic edema/lymphedema are prevalent and underdiagnosed conditions in Canada. While accurate determination of prevalence remains a challenge, Dr. David Keast, Dr. Anna Towers, Marie-Ève Letellier, PhD, and Alisha Damji have published their latest findings on the prevalence of lymphedema in Canada.

Check out our latest Researcher Profile on Jennifer Kwan, a Radiation Oncologist-Clinician Scientist and Assistant Professor in Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto. As a Clinician-Scientist, Dr. Kwan's lab focuses on developing new biomarkers and treatments for breast cancer related lymphedema. She shares insights on her work at the Princess Margaret Adult Radiation Late Effects Clinic.


Pathways Editor, Anna Kennedy, shares the abstracts of a new collection of 13 research papers and consensus statements from the 2023 LANA Summit, Forward Momentum: Future Steps in Lymphedema Management. The collection offers evidence-based insights and recommendations for both surgical and conservative management.


Laurie Desaulniers was diagnosed with primary lymphedema in her leg when she was 15 years old. Laurie shares her story of perseverance, quick action, and being surrounded by the right people throughout her journey living a happy life with lymphedema. This article, A champion of perseverance is from an interview with Laurie by the Lymphedema Association of Quebec (LAQ).


Extending our reach within the scientific community - Pathways moves forward with DOI designations. We are excited to announce that DOI identifiers are now being assigned to selected Pathways articles.

Lymphedema Association of Quebec Survey on lymphedema and sexuality



The LAQ is interested in learning more about lymphedema and sexuality.



This anonymous survey is intended for anyone living with or at risk of lymphedema, as well as healthcare professionals in contact with them. The results of the survey will help the LAQ to work in collaboration with the CHUM (Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal) to develop informative materials about intimacy and sexuality for those living with lymphedema. Thank you for completing and sharing the survey.
