Membership Resources

A number of great resources for Cub Scout packs to use as part of the fall membership campaign are available online at the WCC webpage. Nearly every resource shared at the August 1 and August 7 Membership Rallies is available at the site.

One of the things that the council can do to help packs with their fall recruitment is setting up some social media advertising for their sign-up night or November pack meeting. The council will pay the costs associated with this. Please note that at least 10 days of advance notice is needed for these to get set-up and to be effective. Packs who are interested should contact District Executive Tony DeMario.

Wood Badge

All adult Scouters are invited for a fun, exciting, and action-packed program where they will learn and build on leadership skills and experiences they can use back in their home units as well as in their life outside of Scouting.  The Wood Badge course teaches the best in modern leadership theories in the context of traditional Scouting activities.

The course will be held at Ockanickon Scout Reservation over 2 weekends: February 21-23 & March 8-9. Please contact Course Director John Nieradka with any questions.

Learn About Online Registration

Scouting America offers an application process for new youth and adults that can be completed almost entirely online. This allows prospective members and leaders to register and pay in a way thatโ€™s convenient for them. Please be aware that adult volunteer clearances required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania do necessitate some additional steps.

There are a number of short training videos available for unit leaders to help with key topics.

They include:

Address Book Update

The council and district newsletters are being caught in some reader's spam filters. To help ensure delivery of these messages, Scouters are encouraged to add these email addresses to their contact books:

  • news@washingtoncrossingcouncilbsa.org
  • tohickon@washingtoncrossingcouncilbsa.org

Nominees must be juniors in high school, and demonstrate hard work and fair play, have personal attributes of honesty, courage, tolerance, curiosity, and loyalty, and endeavor to follow and uphold the principles of American patriotism. Nominations can be completed online, but they do require some background information and preparation.
