On Friday, April 12,
the Kings Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (STAAC) hosted the Inaugural Eastern Cincinnati Conference Leadership Summit. Ten to fifteen students from each school in the
ECC
, including new members Lebanon, Little Miami, and Winton Woods, visited Kings to listen to speakers on leadership and participate in team building activities with other schools.
Speakers included
Vince Suriano (Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame), Alex Garvin and Ron Corradini (Kings High School Football), Anthony Munoz (National Football League Hall of Fame), and Mike Bohn (University of Cincinnati Athletic Director)
.
This inaugural summit was the brainchild of Kings Athletic Director, Tyler Miller. His vision was to
provide a day of student leadership development and relationship building for the students in our conference. Miller said, "With so many negative stories that often take up the headlines, we felt it was important to bring students with different backgrounds together for one common purpose. That purpose was to begin developing relationships with our students and student-athletes so they have an even greater respect for each other in the athletic arena."
Miller stressed the importance of athletes respecting one another on and off the field of play. "
I look forward to our conference continuing this tradition and seeing our student-athletes continue to be leaders in their communities. The future is very bright for not only the Eastern Cincinnati Conference but for the communities that our young students are leading," he said.

Kings Softball Cancer Awareness Game
|
|
On Wednesday, April 17, the Kings Softball Team, in their bright pink shirts, brought awareness to cancer and honored the memory of Colleen Michalak who courageously succumbed to cancer in September, leaving behind her
her husband Tony, daughters Courtney and Kylie and step son Jake. Courtney is a senior softball player and Kylie is a freshman volleyball player.
The Lady Knights are playing this season in honor of Colleen and chose their game against Walnut Hills as a day to bring awareness to cancer and remember Colleen. The day began with freshman catcher, Abigail Noble singing the National Anthem. The first pitch was thrown by Jen Parkhurst who is a Kings parent and youth softball coach/coordinator, who is a two-time survivor of cancer. Additionally, Jan Middleton from Pink Ribbon Girls was at the game to give additional awareness to the various types of cancer that so many of our loved ones are fighting.
To add to the success of the evening, the Lady Knights beat Walnut 11-0! Congratulations!

Riversbend TPC is going to again host the SYMETRA/Prasco LPGA tournament for professional women's golfers at the end of June. These women are working towards being a member of the LPGA tour. Winning on the SYMETRA will enable them to fulfill their dreams. Unfortunately, the prize money is very small and they have to cut corners where ever they can.
