Hello Students and Alumni of TAPA,
Recently, XQ launched their XQ Challenge Art and Activism series
, designed to help students and alumni find purpose through music, dance, and visual arts. For the first challenge, the #MakeASongChallenge
, students will work with Oakland-based hip hop and R&B quartet SOL Development to create an original song that brings attention to an issue close to their heart.
This is a national competition, and students from all over the country will be taking part... but I'd say TAPA students have a pretty good chance of winning a prize if they enter!
Prize package from XQ for the National Winners:
● Top 5 upvoted submissions will receive home studio equipment
● First 100 submissions will receive iTunes gift cards for $20
● Top 20 upvoted submissions will receive special interviews, amplification, and a response video from SOL DevelopmentTo participate, students do not have to have a musical background or formal training.
Anyone ages 13-21 can enter.
You may have questions over the next few weeks, and many students nationwide have already begun collaborating here in the "discuss
" section of the XQ site, where they can answer questions directly.
The only prerequisites are passion, curiosity, and an appetite to learn.
Join the challenge!
