Hello Students and Alumni of TAPA,
Recently, XQ launched their
XQ Challenge Art and Activism series, designed to help students and alumni find purpose through music, dance, and visual arts. For the first challenge, the
#MakeASongChallenge, students will work with Oakland-based hip hop and R&B quartet SOL Development to create an original song that brings attention to an issue close to their heart.
This is a national competition, and students from all over the country will be taking part... but I'd say TAPA students have a pretty good chance of winning a prize if they enter!
Prize package from XQ for the National Winners:
● Top 5 upvoted submissions will receive home studio equipment
● First 100 submissions will receive iTunes gift cards for $20
● Top 20 upvoted submissions will receive special interviews, amplification, and a response video from SOL DevelopmentTo participate, students do not have to have a musical background or formal training.
Anyone ages 13-21 can enter.
You may have questions over the next few weeks, and many students nationwide have already begun collaborating here in the "
discuss" section of the XQ site, where they can answer questions directly.
The only prerequisites are passion, curiosity, and an appetite to learn.
Join the challenge!
Thank you,
Mr. MacMannis
