Greetings!
Outgassing is the release of volatile compounds from a material, typically at reduced pressure (vacuum) or elevated temperatures. It's a problem in space because released gases can condense on sensitive surfaces like optical lenses and sensors.
Yet outgassing isn't just a problem that's out of this world. It's an also an issue for electronics and semiconductors, medical devices and pharmaceuticals, and Earth-bound optical and precision instruments.
That's why ElastaPro is pleased to announce that we now make low outgassing silicones that meet ASTM E595 requirements. They're specially formulated and processed to minimize the release of volatiles under vacuum conditions or heat.
Choose 40, 50, 60, or 70 durometer materials in solid silicone sheet or uncured silicone compound. We manufacture these materials in accordance with our ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certified QMS, and we provide a COA with each batch for traceability.
