🎨 Fall Art Workshops for Young Artists

What’s New at Linden Tree

Calling all young artists ages 10-13! Join us this fall for our final round of art workshops for 2026, led by a trio of talented, published illustrators:

Michael Slack, author-illustrator of Funjeepups, Tate Tuber, and more
Rob Sayegh Jr., illustrator of Cupig, Dawn Patrol, and more
Isabella Kung, author-illustrator of Nunu and the Sea, No Snowball!, and more

Each workshop takes place on a Sunday afternoon at 4pm, lasts 90 minutes, and costs $75. Materials (paper, pens, etc) will be provided and, at the end of each workshop, students will receive a signed copy of one of the featured illustrator’s books. Space for each workshop is limited, so sign up now!

📚 Books I’m looking forward to this week: First published in 1952, Ruth Krauss and Maurice Sendak’s A Hole Is to Dig is wonderfully imaginative book of first definitions. From “toes are to wiggle” to “a hat is to wear on a train” to “hands are to hold”, this joyful classic pairs Krauss’s clever definitions with Sendak’s whimsical illustrations (beautifully restored in this new edition).

We’re excited to welcome local author-illustrator Jerrold Connors back for Sunday storytime as he shares his hilarious new picture book, STAMPEDE !

Jasper and Cleo are two little cows who should be taking a nap, but…

“It's hot and my legs are wiggly,” said Jasper.

“The grass is itchy and my tail is twitchy,” said Cleo.

When a bite from a hungry horsefly causes the other cows to stampede, Jasper and Cleo are more than happy to join in on the fun! From scaring cowboys in the desert to causing chaos in the rainforest, the clever calves become true globetrotters. When their traveling goes from exciting to exhausting, will they be able to stop the herd in time to make it home for a much-needed nap?

Middle Grade Book Club

Sunday, August 30 at 4pm

It’s the next meeting of our middle grade book club for ages 9+! Led by bookseller extraordinaire Lorilee, we hope to introduce interested readers to amazing new books and the opportunity to talk about them in a fun, relaxed group setting.
