At Clover, we proudly celebrate Black History Month by recognizing the achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black leaders, educators, and advocates who have shaped our communities, both locally and nationally. From our early education classrooms to our adult day care program, past and present changemakers are celebrated through engaging activities that inspire and educate. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@cloverneworleans) for real-time highlights as we celebrate Black history throughout the month!

Participant Spotlight: Meet Arthur Watson

Mr. Arthur is an 86-year-old Army veteran born and raised in New Orleans. As the oldest of four siblings, he speaks highly of his family. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army, serving at Camp Leroy for ten years in intelligence alongside the General. His father helped him secure a job with Blue Cross Blue Shield after the military, where he dedicated many years of his life.

Today, Mr. Arthur works at the Saegner Theatre, a place where he treasures the music and vibrant atmosphere. He expresses, "I'm enjoying life right now. I am 86 but would like to live to 100. I love talking to people, working, and getting out." As a participant at Clover, he values the Adult Day Programming that "keeps me busy and talking," embodying a spirit of engagement and joy in every moment.

Mr. Arthur is excited to be crowned as Clover King IV for Clover Cares Adult Day Care's Annual Mardi Gras Ball on Thursday, February 20th.

Clover (formerly known as Kingsley House) envisions a city and region where all young children are ready to succeed, and all citizens are healthy and economically stable. Recognizing that vulnerable families are at risk of being caught in an intractable cycle of poverty, we are committed to ensuring that individuals and families have the supports necessary to be successful at all stages of life. To accomplish our goals, we join forces with dedicated community partners and collectively work with families to fuel economic growth and social change in our city, state, and region.
