January 12, 2020 - Baptism of our Lord

In the waters of the Jordan, Jesus is revealed as the beloved Son of God. Through this great epiphany, Jesus fulfills all righteousness and becomes the servant of God who will bring forth justice and be a light to the nations. In the waters of baptism we too are washed by the Word, anointed by the Spirit, and named God’s beloved children. Our baptismal mission is to proclaim good news to all who are oppressed or in need of God’s healing.

Pastor Ray is home from the hospital and resting. He and Janice should be able to have starting Friday, January 10th, but PLEASE do not visit if you have a cold or the flu or are otherwise ill! Contact Beth Schnitkey (Pastor Ray's daughter) to schedule a time to come.

Children's Church was a big success last fall, and will be resuming on January 12th IF we have enough volunteers to keep moving forward! As of today, volunteers are covered for the month of January, but we need you to help starting in February! We will hold children's church two times a month (every other week). Please consider volunteering your time and sign up here . Contact Andria Prouty with any questions - thank you!

The next laundry pickup for Room in the Inn is on Tuesday, January 21st! We need four volunteers to help with the laundry by picking it up on Tuesday the 21st and returning it to Kingsway by Sunday, January 26th (it is too much for one or two people). Currently we only have one person signed up - if you can help with this ministry, please sign up here.

Unfortunately, congregation members are still getting occasional scam e-mails purporting to be from Pastor TroyAnn (as are other pastors nationwide and synod officials). A reminder that any urgent requests from the church will come through our official weekly e-blast or a personal phone call from Pastor TroyAnn. We will never ask for gift cards, money, or money orders unless it is in person or in our official e-blast. Please contact Carol Webster if you receive one (forward the e-mail) so she can submit an official complaint to the FTC.

Let Your Light Shine!

Things just seem a little darker once the Christmas lights come down and the holiday decorations get put away and yet as the world returns to its previously scheduled lives, we as the church embark into a new season of the church.

Mark Your Calendars for February 16th!

We are very excited to announce that Bishop Kevin Strickland, who was installed on October 5, 2019 as the Bishop of the ELCA Southeastern Synod , has offered to visit Epiphany Lutheran Church.

He will be conducting a "Listening and Visioning" session with the entire congregation on February 16th in the Kingsway Fellowship Hall immediately following the 10 am worship service until about 2 pm - lunch will be provided.
