Fire Chief David Endaya to retire
After 30 years of dedicated service, Fire Chief David Endaya has announced his retirement, effective mid-December 2025.
Chief Endaya’s leadership has shaped our agency for more than a decade, guiding our city through the Thomas Fire and the pandemic, launching the Paramedic Squad Program, championing firefighter wellness, and helping plan the long-awaited Fire Station 7.
We are deeply grateful for his vision, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the Ventura.

City adopts Climate Action and Resilience Plan
Our City has officially adopted its Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP), approved by City Council on October 21, 2025. Developed with community input and aligned with the General Plan, CARP lays out strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, prepare for climate hazards like wildfires and sea level rise, and strengthen community resilience.

First City Council reading of Chumash Land Acknowledgement
In recognition of Native American Heritage Month, also known as American Indian & Alaska Native Heritage Month, the City’s newly adopted Chumash Land Acknowledgment was read publicly for the first time at the November 4 City Council Meeting.
Four Chumash community members - Jonita Garcia, Dayna Barrios, John Rodriguez, and Robyne Redwater - were honored for their continued leadership, cultural contributions, and ongoing work in the community.
This acknowledgment reflects the City’s commitment to honoring and uplifting local Chumash history and heritage.
