Dear Friend of the SC Bar Foundation,

With over $2.6 million in grants awarded by the SC Bar Foundation this fiscal year alone, it is easy to see the good we are doing in the world. And the Civil Legal Needs Assessment confirms that our grantees are good stewards of these funds. It is an easy time to sit back and think “we did it!” And yet the Civil Legal Needs Assessment also provides some startling data about the dire need for civil legal services, which is summarized in the following quotes.

“The sheer numbers of low-income individuals in South Carolina make what [legal service providers] are currently tasked with impossible for them,”[1] and “there are too many people in need of civil legal services and not enough services to go around.”[2]

We also know that not enough attorneys are providing pro bono services; add to that the issues of recruitment and retention of legal service attorneys. The solution “always is funding… [y]ou can't have more people until you have more salaries and more funding.”[3]

You can be a part of the solution by partnering with the SC Bar Foundation.

Your tax-deductible donation in any amount allows the Foundation to fund better access and education in South Carolina through the tireless work of our 39 grantee partners.

Here are ways to partner with us:
