What's Happening at NSO?

Mission Moment:

Detroit Country Day High School Hosts Black History Month Community Project Donating Hundreds of Hygiene Kits to NSO Clients

Detroit Country Day High School students led a community service initiative benefiting organizations across metro Detroit, including the Neighborhood Service Organization, in honor of Black History Month.

The community service project was led by Nadiyah Traver, Chair of MLK Day Community Engagement. The project supported 15 community organizations and provided hygiene kits for 2,000 individuals. NSO was honored to receive hundreds of kits that will directly support clients.

We are grateful to Nadiyah Traver and the entire Detroit Country Day community for turning Black History Month into a month of action and service.

NSO Hosts Bingo Games for Clay Apartment Clients

NSO recently hosted a fun afternoon of Bingo for our Clay Apartment residents. The friendly competition gave our clients an opportuntiy to play multiple rounds and walked away with some exciting prizes. The event gave clients a chance to relax, connect with neighbors, and simply enjoy themselves. Thank you to everyone who helped make it a great time for our residents.

Hope Multiplied - The Power of 70

For seventy years,

NSO has been committed to the Heart Work of our community and to meeting the behavioral health and wellness needs of nearly 1 million individuals, while also helping hundreds of thousands of people move from homelessness to safe, stable housing. We've supported displaced families during the 1967 riots and created access to neighborhood testing and basic needs throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our history is defined by resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to meeting neighbors where they are in order to support their needs. NSO is still standing strong and still doing the Heart Work.

As we celebrate 70 years of service, NSO faces uncertainty and massive funding changes to support vulnerable populations, which will require us to rely on the generosity of supporters like you. Your contributions will help provide safe housing and supportive care to seniors and persons with disabilities, and restore dignity to those who rely on our safety net services.

Thank you for your generosity and support of NSO.

With Heart,

Linda Little
