Your April Program Guide

Join us for Ellington’s Annual Earth Day Celebration, a family-friendly event dedicated to sustainability, community, and environmental awareness! Enjoy a day of fun, education, and action as we work together to make Ellington a greener place to live. Explore over 70 vendors featuring local businesses, organizations, and environmental advocates promoting eco-friendly practices. Enjoy live entertainment, delicious local food, and interactive activities throughout the day. Engage in games and educational exhibits that teach sustainable living, recycling, and conservation through hands-on experiences. Participate in donation drives and recycling collections by contributing clothing, household goods, and bottles and cans to support the community.

The event takes place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Town Green & Nellie McKnight Museum. Come celebrate, learn, and take action for a healthier planet!

SUMMER CAMP

LITTLE KNIGHTS

Ages (3-5)

Give your little one an unforgettable summer at our day camp for ages 3-5! With exciting themed activities, daily entertainment at CLS, and a safe, structured environment, campers will experience all the fun of a traditional day camp. Plus, lunch is provided at no extra cost. Spaces will fill quickly!

SUMMER KNIGHTS

Ages (6-12)

For over 35 years, Ellington P&R has provided kids with an exciting summer filled with sports, arts, STEM, games, and on-site entertainment at. Our camp located at CLS fosters friendships. Plus, lunch is provided at no extra cost. Join us for another great summer—register before spaces fill!

ADVENTURE AWAITS

Grades (6-8)

Give your pre-teen/teen the adventure they crave with our travel-based camp! Each day (Mon - Thurs) campers explore the top destinations across Southern New England, including Six Flags, Lake Compounce, and more—all under the supervision of our most experienced counselors. Only 7 Spots Remain!

Wiffleball Camp

Step up to the plate with this backyard classic! With games, Home Run Derbies, & a Playoff competition, the week runs July 21-24 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Tedford Park. Open to ages 9-16 and led by Coach Curtis, get ready for epic plays & summer fun!

Faces & Places

Oh, the places you'll go! Join us for a creative adventure where art meets history in the most unexpected ways. Travel through time as you explore ancient cave paintings, craft fossil replicas, and sculpt bread dough miniatures. Discover the mystery of gargoyle faces and journey to stunning Scottish castles—all through hands-on artistic creations. Running Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 12 PM at Ellington Middle School, this program invites young artists to dive into the weird, the wonderful, and the wildly fun. Bring an old oversized T-shirt as a smock, along with a nut-free snack and drink each day, and get ready to unleash your creativity!

Pigasso & Mootise

Oh, the masterpieces you'll create! Join us for a hands-on art adventure at Ellington Middle School, where young artists ages 7-12 will explore the bold styles of Picasso, Matisse, van Gogh, and more. Experiment with tie-dyed T-shirts, mosaic art, decoupage animals, celestial stained glass, and funky 3D designs using unexpected materials. Running Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 12 PM, this creativity-packed art program invites kids to dive into the colorful, the quirky, and the wildly fun. Bring an old oversized T-shirt as a smock, along with a nut-free snack and drink each day, and get ready to unleash your imagination!

Youth Team Tennis

Calling all young athletes! Ellington Youth Team Tennis invites players of all sports to experience the excitement of team-based tennis. Learn, compete, and improve skills in a fun, supportive environment. All skill levels are welcome!

Future Lady Knights Basketball Clinic

Ellington High School’s Girls Basketball Coach, Marc Tancredi, is thrilled to invite all young female basketball players to the Future Lady Knights Basketball Clinic! After an incredible season that saw the team reach the Final Four of the state tournament, this clinic provides an exciting opportunity to learn from a high-level program and improve your basketball skills. Starting Sunday, 4/27, the clinic will focus on teaching essential basketball fundamentals in a fun and supportive environment. Participants will build confidence, develop their skills, and apply them in small-sided games to enhance their understanding of the game while working with our town's most experienced coaches and players.

Ellington High School’s highly accomplished Boys Basketball Coach, Bob Freitas, invites all young male basketball players to join the very popular "Future Knights" Basketball Clinic! After an incredible undefeated season that culminated in winning the high school state championship, this clinic provides a fantastic opportunity to learn from a championship-winning program. Starting Sunday, 4/27, the clinic will focus on teaching essential basketball fundamentals and foundational skills in a fun and supportive environment. Mini-Hawk programs offer a fun, structured learning environment while enhancing balance and coordination. Campers improve athletically while learning sportsmanship and teamwork. Multi-Sport programs are designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting. Athletes will learn the rules and essential skills of each sport, along with vital life lessons such as sportsmanship, inclusion and teamwork.
