Happy New Year to All. We know you are all anxious to resume your vacations and cruises as soon as possible. We are too! In the words of one of our cruise partners, “We Can’t Wait”!!! And we have some encouraging news: a report from the cruise industry notes that trial cruises are proceeding. Richard Fain, President of Celebrity Cruises, reported that so far, the mock cruises are going quite well. The first December cruise on a Royal Caribbean ship went without incident. On the second cruise, however, an 83-year-old person tested positive while onboard a limited-passenger, cruise-to-nowhere out of Singapore. That person was quarantined, but multiple subsequent tests came back negative. There was an advantage in the false positive in that it gave the crew an opportunity to put in place the protocols that have been developed over these many months in conjunction with the CDC. We hope to have further results of the trial cruises soon. These simulated cruises are an important step in the return to cruising we all desire. Meanwhile, we will continue to plan our 2021 and 2022 adventures. In fact, our January Newsletter contains two new cruises for you to consider!
