Happy Winter Solstice!

The winter solstice has arrived, marking the shortest day of the year and the start of the winter season. As deciduous trees lose their leaves and some animals go into hibernation, we hope you’ll have time to rest, reflect, and rejoice with loved ones.

This past year was filled with many joyful events and moments for the Canopy community. To look back on these memories, we’ve created a 2024 Canopy Highlights Flickr album filled with tree plantings, celebrations and more.

Canopy wishes you light and happiness in the new year!

Support Our Work

We are grateful for the enduring support of our dedicated community and advocates. Thanks to your generosity and advocacy, Canopy is able to support the critically important work of nature-based solutions where they are needed most. Your investment helps us nurture our community, enhance our local environment, and inspire a new generation of green leaders committed to expanding access to the benefits of community forestry.

Looking forward to the new year, we hope you’ll consider supporting Canopy’s collaborative work with a gift. No matter how large or small, your gift brings the benefits of trees to our communities here and now – changing our lived experiences each and every day.

Welcome, Michael!

Canopy is thrilled to welcome Michael DeBroeck as our new Tree Care Coordinator! Community Recap

December 3, 2024 | Palo Alto - As a non-profit member of the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce, Canopy hosted an evening tree walk for the Chamber at the Palo Alto Arts Center. The night time tree walk had an interesting twist with Canopy’s innovative education team using red flashlights to illuminate the trees and spotlight hidden tree information while avoiding nighttime eye sensitivity.

December 19, 2024 | Mountain View - Community Forestry School graduates, community volunteers, and Canopy staff cared for 20 trees at Mountain View's Mora Park.

Canopy's mission is to grow the urban forest in Midpeninsula communities for the benefit of all.

Our vision is a day when every resident of the Midpeninsula can step outside to walk, play, and thrive under the shade of healthy trees.
