THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS IS A NONPARTISAN, GRASSROOTS NONPROFIT

DEDICATED TO EMPOWERING EVERYONE TO FULLY PARTICIPATE IN OUR DEMOCRACY.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the time, dedication and energy that our Candidate Forum Team poured into making the 2024 LWVSRQ forums a success.

From organizational logistics, to coming up with all the questions, moderating the forums, and handling communications and PR, every task you took on contributed to our success. Your ability to adapt after life threatening storms, navigate the unforeseen bumps (floods) in the road and get everything done is truly remarkable.

I also want to commend all of the candidates who participated in our Forums and vote411.org. A candidate who comes forward and clearly expresses their views, demonstrates respect for the people they hope to serve. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the League members who persisted in their efforts to include responses from as many candidates as possible.

And did I mention that we set a record for the most forums sponsored

in a year?

Compiling, editing, printing and distributing local voter guides is no simple task under ordinary circumstances. However, given the evacuations, storm damage and power/ wifi outages caused by Hurricane Milton, they required extraordinary dedication. Thank you to those who hit the ground running to make sure Sarasota County voters were well informed.

To all of you, your hard work and commitment to our mission are inspiring. I’m so proud of what we have accomplished.

In League,

Shawn Bartelt, president
