💡 Discover how communities are turning inspiration into impact this season.

ASCEND — Building Confidence, Skills & Meaningful Futures

The First Cohort: A Resounding Success

We’re excited to share updates on ASCEND (Achieving Success through Community Engagement & Development) — a youth employment initiative funded by the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS).

Led by Community Sector Council NL (CSCNL) and delivered in NL, NS, and PEI with partners Impact Organizations of Nova Scotia (IONS) and Community Sector Network of PEI (CSNPEI), the first cohort connected 40 youth participants with 38 community employers across the region.

Through 70 hours of personal and career development training and meaningful community placements, participants built skills, confidence, and readiness for future employment.

Feedback from both youth and employers has been overwhelmingly positive:

Cohort Two: Expanding Across Four Regions

This fall, ASCEND expanded to Nunavut in partnership with Inspire Nunavut and the Nunavut Association of Non-Profit Organizations (NANPO) — reaching over 100 participants across four regions.

The third cohort is set to begin in March 2026, and employers and youth can complete online applications now.
