Introducing Canopy Roots!
Each Spring, the Teen Urban Foresters (TUFs) are tasked with a community project that showcases Canopy’s work and the topics discussed throughout the session. Recognizing their strengths and interests, the idea of a podcast was born. After months of hard work and dedication, I am proud to announce that the TUFs have launched Canopy's very own podcast Canopy Roots. Through engaging discussions and insightful interviews, they delve into topics such as environmental justice, sustainable practices, and ways we can contribute to creating and maintaining vibrant green spaces. This podcast is an excellent resource for anyone interested in urban forestry and making a positive impact in their community.

Through the enduring support of our dedicated community and advocates, Canopy is able to support the critically important work of nature-based solutions where they are needed most. Your investment helps us nurture our community, enhance our local environment, and inspire a new generation of green leaders committed to expanding access to the benefits of community forestry.
Through December 31st, Canopy’s Board of Directors has committed to match every donation dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000. Your support brings the benefits of trees to our communities here and now – changing our lived experiences each and every day.

Last week, Canopy staff, including TUFs JoJo Flores and Briyana Edwards, attended the Partners in Community Forestry Conference in Chicago. JoJo, Bri, and Youth Programs Manager Juanita Ibarra led a breakout session titled “Roots of Change: Building a Workforce Development Pathway Rooted in Intersectionality” where an estimated 130 attendees learned about Canopy’s TUF program, impact, and model for equity-centered, community-based workforce development. The conference was not just an opportunity to share Canopy’s insights and tools, but an opportunity to connect with and learn from community forestry leaders across the nation.
Canopy wishes to thank the Arbor Day Foundation for giving us the opportunity to share our TUF program and passion for community forestry. We also wish to thank United Airlines and the generous donors to our Miles on a Mission campaign who made it possible for our staff to fly to Chicago.

Canopy's mission is to grow the urban forest in Midpeninsula communities for the benefit of all.
Our vision is a day when every resident of the Midpeninsula can step outside to walk, play, and thrive under the shade of healthy trees.
