Deah Barakat, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha - Craig Stephen Hicks
Deah Barakat, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha were three young Muslim individuals who tragically lost their lives in a shooting incident on February 10, 2015, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The incident received significant attention and raised concerns about hate crimes, Islamophobia, and religious intolerance.
Deah Barakat, 23, was a dental student at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21, was his wife, and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, was Yusor's sister. They were all known for their activism and community involvement.
The shooting occurred in the evening when Craig Stephen Hicks, a neighbor of the victims, entered their apartment and shot all three individuals.
Hicks was formally charged by a Durham County grand jury with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Following the shooting, the FBI and the United States Department of Justice initiated their own investigations into the incident. However, federal authorities did not find sufficient evidence to bring hate crime charges against Hicks.
The trial was slated to occur in the summer of 2019. However, on June 12, 2019, Hicks entered a guilty plea for the murders and received a sentence of three consecutive life terms in prison.

Faithful Remembrances
DAILY REMEMBRANCE: From Different Perspectives - Grief is the most diverse emotion that I have known. Each day is filled with uncertainty and experiences unknown. A day filled with so much joy that your heart sings. At other times, to depths so low that your head begins to ring. Allowed too many times to recollect and relive. Oh, how you'd trade it all if one day you could give. To the one, you loved and lost for a chance to simply see that face. Knowing that you can't and trying to handle it with grace. So, you face each day with courage and memories in your heart. And, praying that on this day, the grieving will not start.

A Henry victory would put the icing on the cake of a relationship that began when the senior publisher became a member more than 50 years ago.
Legends are made of stories like Levi Henry's.
