Interested in learning some Spanish basics? Join us for this 8-week class with volunteer Claudia Matos! Claudia will teach you important vocabulary, numbers, days of the week, anatomy, and more! A chocolate-fueled fun event for kids 10-18! WPL's Chocolate Olympics will feature nearly a dozen different skill-based games, all set around Chocolate! Participants will compete in events like:

At the end of the program, teens will have a chance to win even more candy by unwrapping an epic Choco-ball!

The Friends of the Waterloo Public Library $5-a-Bag Book Sale brings you the best deal in town. If you love books, this sale is for you! We supply the bags; you fill them up!


Please note, the basement will be closed the Monday following this sale, so Friends have the opportunity to tidy up.


All proceeds benefit library events and programming.


*Memberships will be sold at the door! Yearly memberships are as little as $15. Seniors may purchase a membership for $10.

The Waterloo Public Library and Cedar Valley SportsPlex will host a Community Walk and Talk!


You are invited to exercise your mind and body by participating in a two-part book discussion of The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown while working towards your step goals on the Cedar Valley SportsPlex’s track. Members and nonmembers are welcome.

Lego Lab @ the Library is back! Children, fifth grade and younger, and their families are invited to see what they can build at this monthly event. We provide the theme and the Legos, your child provides the imagination.


This month's theme is Things That Go. 


All creations will be on display for one month in the library. Legos will be provided by the library, so please do not bring your own.

Introducing WPL's very first writing club! If you're an aspiring writer who needs a safe and constructive place to receive feedback on your work, this is the perfect forum for you. Every first and third Tuesday of the month, registered club members will submit writing pieces to Seth at sthill@waterloopubliclibrary.org where they will then be distributed to the group for discussion. This is not a genre-specific writing club, all genres are welcome!
