In order to graduate from the University of Toledo with my Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science I was required to complete an internship. This kickstarted my learning and ever growing relationship with Essence Yoga Studio. I spent that internship observing Diana’s work which inspired me to continue my education in exercise science and deepen my studies within the yoga industry. I went on to obtain my Master of Science in Applied Exercise Science and completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training at a local studio in Cleveland. When those courses were completed I felt like I was missing something in my yoga education. After taking a few classes on Zoom with Diana, I knew I had to head back to Toledo to finish my yoga training. I have never regretted this decision. Each training session leaves me astounded with how much more there is to learn about anatomy, physiology and health. 
Diana's ability to teach anatomy while relating it to yoga, wellness and overall daily life gives you the realization of how much more advanced we could all be living. Learning from a mentor who has so many accolades makes this training program fully immersive. Letter From Diana

Staying Your Course Into the New Year

* I purposely left this letter in from last month in hopes that you all will reread and use what is here for yourself in to the new year. 🙏🏻

It is so hard to believe that we are back to another end-of-year and a season full of many holidays! It sure does seem to come faster and faster each year.

Thankful, joyful, hopeful, and reflective. It is surely a season full of many emotions and sensations and, in my many years years of working in the wellness industry, it seems to be a rollercoaster of rushing, shopping, meal events, followed by a new year of cramming in way too much fitness and major diet changes. Each year I try to let folks know that it does not need to be like this and, in reality, this rollercoaster is harmful to our health in many ways. So, without further ado, here are some helpful tips: 

  • Keep your self-care a priority no matter what is going on: book classes, get good sleep, eat healthy and consistent, drink extra water (the air is so dry), and allow for quiet time most especially in nature if possible. Take care of your wellness now and daily or be forced to care for sickness later.
  • Saying “no” to anything that does not leave you feeling at ease. It may seem that this is hard at first, but once practiced, it becomes so much easier. The “nos” save energy for the “yeses”. Stop wasting time and energy on the things that do not line up with your heart’s desire. Being at ease brings SO much health…including keeping a strong immune system! 
  • When going to a meal event where there will be things you know you should not eat, eat healthy before you leave and be sure you are hydrated. If it’s an event where folks bring food to share, take a healthy dish to eat and share. 
  • Do not eat within 4 hours of going to bed…and get to bed as much before midnight as you can. Studies have shown that 1 hour of sleep before midnight is equal to 2 hours of sleep after midnight. The only way the body can detox well and repair and heal is in deep sleep.
  • Work with a health coach and/or a personal trainer to plan your new year. Pace yourself and have a plan versus just going at it randomly and too much too fast. 

I have been saying this often lately: it is not about fancy…it is about consistency. Stay your course and keep the big picture in mind while enjoying the season. Just think…what will 1 year be like from now if you stick with your wellness plan the entire year?

I sincerely wish you all a peaceful, healthy, and joyous season of holidays! Please remember those in your lives that are experiencing loss…give grace and loving kindness and remember that just being fully present for them to listen and maybe hold a hand is a powerful, precious gift.

Diana is offering her annual FREE New Year's class on Sunday, 01/01, at 10am and 12pm! The 10 am class is full but there is still only a couple spaces in the 12:30pm that has been added!

We have done these pre-COVID and they have always been SO powerful! Sign-up is FREE online...pay only what you can or desire when you come. This class's theme "Live Your Dream" is to support all in living their Heart's Desire on 2023.

Back for the 4th year in a row with NEW practices!

Meditation and Pranayama with Diana Spiess

Diana is SO excited to offer this series again... this time with even more! There are no words for the power of practicing pranayama (conscious breathing) and meditation together. Diana will teach the benefits and skills for many different pranayama practices followed by a different guided meditation each session. She will record each session for all to have for practice and to keep. Even if you had done this series with her before, she will be expanding in this series and offering meditations she has not before.

Diana will combine numerous meditation techniques (yoga Nidra, exploring the sutras, etc) and practices along with many ways to practice breathing. Most recently, she has come certified in hypnosis and will teach usable techniques that anyone can use.

This series is offered on Zoom and makes for a great way to end the day and prepare for a great night's sleep. 

Dates: Thursdays 1-12, 1-19, 1-26, 2-2

Time: 7-8:30pm 

Cost: $150 per person. The sessions will be recorded and sent to all after each session to use and keep.

Participants will be sent the Zoom link for this series the day it begins. We will use the same link each time. Each session will be recorded by Diana and sent to all for practice and to keep. 

CEC's are available for YA certified yoga teachers and ACE certified professionals.

Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30, come see what all love about this class! She holds the morning one on Mondays at 9:30am and there are sometimes 30+ people between the studio and on Zoom!

The first ever ‘essence of healing’ Sound and Vibrational Healing Therapy Certification course with Diana Spiess

This has been in the making by Diana for some time and she is about ready to launch her first certification course in February 2023!

Important Zoom Class Reminders: 

  • For those participating via zoom, you must be visible on camera. We can not allow participants coming on with us without a camera option going forward for safety reasons.
  • Be signed up at least 2 hours before the class begins
  • Zoom link will be sent about 1 hour before class begins to your email 
  • Be signed in 15 minutes before class 
  • Ask all in your home to be off the internet for best reception for Zoom classes 
  • You will be on mute during Zoom classes and can send a chat message to the instructor if needed. 
  • For yoga classes, please leave savasana at the beginning or stay on the entire time to avoid being disruptive to the class.
