COMING UP: JCC SoCo

Dear Friends of Friendship Circle,

We are writing to share an important update about our beloved Friendship Circle program.

After five years of extraordinary leadership, Friendship Circle Program Director Sandy Andresen will be retiring effective June 30, 2026. Sandy came to us with this decision, and while we will miss her enormously, we respect and fully support her choice. She stepped into this role at a pivotal moment and gave it everything — guiding the program through COVID and its aftershocks, preserving the core programming that has made Friendship Circle meaningful to so many people for 40 years, and caring deeply for every member of this community along the way. We are profoundly grateful for her service and wish her all the best in this well-deserved next chapter.

Friendship Circle is not going anywhere. This program has the full backing and support of the JCC SoCo Board of Directors, and we are committed to ensuring it continues to thrive. We are currently redesigning the program's staffing structure to build a more sustainable and layered model of support — one that will serve this community for the next 40 years, not just the next few. We are already building toward that future, with an active search for a Program Coordinator currently underway.

In the meantime, JCC SoCo Executive Director Heather Muntzer is directly overseeing the program. We have prepared answers to questions we anticipate you may have, which you'll find below.

With deep gratitude,

Heather Muntzer, Executive Director                 ï»¿
Deborah Burg-Schnirman,
Board President

JCC SOCO IS HIRING!

Come join us. We have a new opportunity available for someone who cares deeply about community impact and wants hands-on experience in program administration, community engagement, and event coordination — all within a mission-driven nonprofit environment.

We are seeking a motivated and organized Program Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of our programs and events. JCC SoCo is a community-based organization "without walls" — meaning we don't operate out of a traditional center. Employees work remotely when not a programs, and our events take place primarily in Santa Rosa, with occasional travel to other locations in Sonoma County and the greater Bay Area.

OUR FISCAL YEAR END

If you've been meaning to make a year-end gift, there's still time — donations received by June 30th count toward this fiscal year.

Thank you to everyone who has already given this year.
Your generosity made this year's work possible, and we can't wait to share the full story.

Our Annual Report - a particularly exciting edition - will be available shortly after we close the books on July 1st.

TISHA B'AV

SAT, JULY 18 • 6:30 - 10:30 PM
St. Stephens Outdoor Sanctuary

Tisha B'Av is the deepest well of grief in the Jewish calendar.

This year, we will gather around sacred fire for an evening of communal grief tending. Sacred fire has accompanied the Jewish people throughout our history: fire on the altar, fire of revelation, fire of destruction, and fire that burns within each human heart.

On this night, we will enter the ritual first with teachings of Tisha B'Av, sacred fire, and the wisdom of grief as a pathway of healing. Then we will enter a space for song, silence, prayer, movement and tears.
