UNLEARNING JEWISH ANXIETY - How to Live with More Joy and Suffer Less

THURS, MARCH 26 • 7 PM

Online (via Zoom)

Join Rabbi Dr. Aviv in a book reading and in conversation with Rabbi Irwin

Rabbi Caryn Aviv’s new book, Unlearning Jewish Anxiety: How to Live with More Joy and Suffer Less, addresses the rise in anti-Jewish hatred and the growing anxiety many Jews feel about safety, belonging, and worth. While acknowledging that these fears are understandable, Aviv argues that suffering from them is not inevitable.

The book examines how anti-Jewish contempt shapes everyday habits and trauma responses, and combines neuroscience with Jewish wisdom to help readers recognize and compassionately “unlearn” inherited cultural anxiety patterns. Its aim is to support tikkun atzmi (personal and nervous system healing) as a pathway to tikkun olam (healing the broader world).
