ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY

TUES, NOV 11 • 1PM & 7PM

Rialto Cinemas, Sebastopol

“The late, great Tony winner Linda Lavin (Alice) shines as an overbearing Jewish grandmother in One Big Happy Family, a big-hearted contemporary Bat Mitzvah comedy about mothers, daughters, sisters and the mensches we pick along the way to join our chosen family. L’chaim!”

Thelma Adams, Rotten Tomatoes Top Critic

When a DNA test completely upends a woman’s life, while planning her daughter’s Bat Mitzvah, she embarks on a hilarious journey with her eccentric mother to find out who she really is.

This is the last film of two-time Golden Globe® and Tony Winner, Linda Lavin (Netflix’s “No Good Deed,” Hulu’s “Mid Century Modern”) who died a few days before its premiere at Miami Jewish Film Festival.

TORAH LISHMAH
8th- 12 Grade

Monthly, beginning:

SUN, OCT 19 • 10:00 - 11:30 AM

Santa Rosa, or Cotati Coffee Shop

Torah Lishmah means “learning for its own sake.”

The Torah Lishmah class is an opportunity for young people past B.Mitzvah age to continue their Jewish learning on their own terms. Every month students will meet Reb Irwin at a convenient café. (Coffee is on him.) Together we will explore Jewish texts, history, mythology, philosophy – whatever the class decides they’d like to dive deeper into. This is learning for its own sake – not B.Mitzvah prep, not readying for a test. Learning for the pleasure and enrichment that only learning can provide.

Torah Lishmah will meets once per month at Ner Shalom or a nearby coffee shop, Oct - April.

Ner Shalom Members: $450

NEW CLASS ON NEVI'IM (PROPHETS) STARTING

MON, OCT 20 • 6 PM

Beth Ami, Santa Rosa

Join us for our new Nevi’im (Prophets) class where Rabbi Koas will lead us in looking at the books of the Prophets. Following Simchat Torah’s celebration of completing this past year’s annual Torah reading cycle, we will be picking up where Deuteronomy leaves off by diving into the Book of Joshua.

As we join the generation that crosses the Jordan to enter the Promised Land under the leadership of Joshua, the children of Israel will encounter a new set of trials, tribulations, and miracles during the conquest of Canaan. This class will be an ongoing endeavor taking place every month on the third Monday at 6:00 as we work our way through the Prophets. Make sure to bring snacks and an appetite for learning more about the history of our people.
