Living Well with Lymphedema:
Occupational Therapy Strategies for Everyday Life
October is National Occupational Therapy Month in Canada — an ideal time to explore the role occupational therapy can play in helping people live well with lymphedema.
Join Pathways Editor-in-Chief Anna Kennedy in conversation with occupational therapist, researcher, and Pathways author Naomi Dolgoy, M.OT, CLT, PhD, for a practical discussion about clothing, footwear, and daily life with lymphedema.
Getting dressed may seem like an ordinary task, but swelling, changes in limb or body shape, compression garments, fabric construction, footwear, fatigue, and other challenges can make clothing choices considerably more complicated.
Drawing on recent research and Pathways resources, Naomi will explore some of the practical considerations that can help people find clothing and footwear that support comfort, function, confidence, and lymphedema self-management.
The conversation will also look beyond clothing to the broader role of occupational therapy in lymphedema care — helping people adapt routines, problem-solve everyday challenges, conserve energy, remain independent, and continue participating in the activities that matter to them.
Whether you are living with lymphedema, supporting someone who is, or working in lymphedema care, join us for an engaging and practical conversation — and submit your own questions for Naomi when you register.
