Beck Closure

After more than 50 years serving the community, Beck Recreation Center will close as of Friday, Aug. 1, 2025. Beck programs and offerings will be relocated to other city of Aurora facilities following the closure.

Residents with memberships to Beck will automatically be given all-access passes for use at the city’s four other recreation centers for the duration of their membership. We recognize the impact of this change on neighbors, facility users and staff.

The city of Aurora will conduct a feasibility study to look at the financial viability and demand for new recreation facilities in northeast Aurora in the future. Thank you to our customers for visiting Beck and making it their home for fitness and fun over the years and thank you to our staff for their excellent service at the center!

For more information on Beck’s closure, visit AuroraGov.org/BeckCenter.

Trivia Time: Do you know Ultimate Frisbee?

How many players are there per team?

Answer Revealed below

USA Ultimate Frisbee Masters Championships hosted this past weekend at the Aurora Sports Park

The answer is... b, 7 players! Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact team sport played with seven players and a flying disc (Frisbee) on a rectangular field with end zones. The objective is to score by catching the disc in the opponent's end zone.

Our very own Aurora Sports Park, 19300 E. Colfax Ave., hosted the USA Ultimate Frisbee Masters Championships over the weekend with over 100 teams competing. Ultimate Frisbee is a great way to become part of a team and get a killer workout in!

While we don't offer Ultimate Frisbee in our Activity Guide yet, you can still try out any of our other sports leagues! Consider joining one of our many sports leagues in Aurora, or renting out our Southeast Recreation Center Fieldhouse to get yourself in the game at AuroraGov.org/Sports.

Plus, we have an active giveaway for one free sports registration in our Fall Activity Guide! Check out page four and sign up to win at AuroraGov.org/ActivityGuide.
