Greetings!

Summer is in full swing, and we hope you're finding time to enjoy the longer days, family gatherings, vacations, and everything this season has to offer. While summer often gives us a chance to slow down, it's also an ideal time to pause and reflect on the progress you're making toward your financial goals.

This year has brought no shortage of headlines - from ongoing discussions about inflation and interest rates to market reactions driven by economic and geopolitical developments. While the news cycle can feel overwhelming at times, it's a good reminder that successful financial planning is built on preparation, discipline, and keeping a long-term perspective through changing market conditions.

In this month's newsletter, we're sharing a helpful mid-year financial checklist designed to help you review your progress, revisit your goals, and identify any adjustments worth considering before year-end. We're also addressing one of the most common retirement planning questions we hear: When should I start collecting Social Security? Understanding the timing options available to you can have a meaningful impact on your lifetime retirement income, and we're here to help you evaluate what may make the most sense for your situation.

We hope you enjoy this month's articles, and as always, if you have questions or would like to schedule a mid-year review, our team is just a phone call or email away. Wishing you a safe, relaxing, and happy July!

With Gratitude,

It’s Time for Your 6 Month Financial Checkup

June is a great time to assess your financial portfolio as it is the half-way mark through the year. Think of it as your six-month financial wellness checkup!

When Should I Start

Collecting Social Security?

One of the most common questions I hear is, "When should I start collecting Social Security?" My answer is almost always the same: it depends.

While this month's article covers the basics, the right claiming strategy is different for everyone.

We discuss questions such as:

  • Do you have other income sources, like a pension or investment income, that can support you while you wait?
  • Are you eligible for a spousal or ex-spousal benefit BEFORE you collect your own?
  • Would lower-income years make Roth conversions a smart strategy before claiming?
  • Or do you still have RSUs or stock options vesting that make delaying Social Security more beneficial?

Since this decision can have a lasting impact on your retirement income and is difficult to change once made, it's worth taking the time to ensure it fits your overall financial plan. If you're approaching this milestone, we'd be happy to help you evaluate your options.

Market Thoughts July 2026

June was a mixed month for markets, as equities were dragged down by the Magnificent Seven stocks, which all closed lower on the month. Still, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the small-cap Russell 2000 both rallied, and the market benefited from the increasing earnings expectations for corporate America. Further, the May jobs data came in well above economist expectations, and retail sales continue to show consumers are willing to spend. But will inflation remain a fly in the ointment?
