Preparing for Summer & A Special Welcome

Summer is almost here, and with it comes a season of milestones—graduations, Father’s Day, and time spent with loved ones. It’s a natural moment to reflect on the future and the legacy we hope to leave behind. At Botti & Morison, we’re here to help you do just that with clarity, compassion, and trusted legal guidance.

We’re excited to share two important updates this month:

🌟 Please join us in welcoming attorney Aida Bagdasaryan, Esq. to the Botti & Morison team! Aida brings a strong background in estate planning, probate, and trust litigation. She’s known for her steady advocacy, clear communication, and deep respect for each client’s unique circumstances. You can read more about Aida and her impressive background below.

📍 Also, our Santa Barbara office has moved! We’re now located at 351 Paseo Nuevo, 2nd Floor, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, within WorkZones in the Paseo Nuevo shopping center. This new space enables us to continue serving the Santa Barbara community in a modern and accessible environment.

This month’s featured blog post explores a concerning national trend: fewer Americans are creating estate plans. According to Caring.com’s 2025 Wills Survey, only 24% of adults have a Will, down from 33% in 2022. Parents of children under 18 are the least likely to have any estate planning documents in place. While many who do have plans are staying proactive, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than half of Americans remain unprepared.

If you’ve been meaning to get your affairs in order, now is a great time to start—or update—your estate plan. We’re here to help make it simple and stress-free.

Wishing everyone a safe summer.

Estate Planning in Decline: New Data Shows a Concerning Trend

According to Caring.com’s 2025 Wills Survey, the number of Americans with a Will continues to decline. In 2025, only 24% of adults reported having a Will—down from 33% in 2022. Even more concerning is the fact that Americans with children under 18 make up the largest group without any estate planning documents in place.

Despite this decline, those who do have a will are increasingly proactive, with most updates made in the last five years. Many cite life events like family expansion or a change in assets as reasons for revisiting their estate plan. Additionally, the long shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to influence behavior—five years later, its impact is still prompting many to take estate planning seriously.
