Aurora teens come

Summer Vibes

Aurora teens come and express yourself at Summer Vibes, a free event series. Attendees will enjoy live performances, a silent disco, extreme party inflatables and activities.
Teens will also receive free ticket vouchers for food trucks, exclusive giveaways and amazing prizes including a $400 StubHub gift card, $400 Denver of Performing Arts gift card, an annual pass for Meow Wolf and more!

The quote "It's not easy being green," is a well-known line from the song "Bein' Green," performed by Kermit the Frog. Kermit became a huge icon in the 1970s, when the environmentalism movement began to take centerstage. The phrase "going green," also became popular in this era and is often used to describe environmentally conscious actions.

Aurora is all about "going green." The Back to Our Roots program isn't just about replacing turf – it's about creating sustainable landscapes that thrive with less water. So, how does turf conversion work?
1. Site Selection: We identify spaces that require excessive watering but serve little or no recreational purpose. Instead of maintaining thirsty turf where it's not needed, we convert the space into water-saving ecosystems that benefit both the environment and the community.
2.Turf Removal and Replacement: We remove the existing grass and replace it with carefully chosen native, drought-tolerant plants. These plants are not only water-efficient but also provide essential habitat and food sources for local wildlife, helping to restore natural ecosystems.
3. Maintenance: Transforming these areas into thriving ecosystems takes time! It typically takes about three years for native plants to fully establish. During this period, weeds are a natural and expected part of the process as the landscape adapts. As the plants mature and stabilize, weeds diminish, and the area flourishes into a low-maintenance, water-efficient and visually-appealing space—one that ultimately rewards both people and nature.
The result? Balance! We continue to offer beautiful green spaces for play and enjoyment, while conserving water, lowering maintenance costs and benefiting the local ecosystem.

Free Fridays are back at Aurora Pools

The sun is shining, and the temperatures are rising! Pool season is finally here! Cool off at one of our six outdoor pools, four indoor pools or two spraygrounds through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1.
Free Fridays
Aqua Vista, Parklane, Pheasant Run and Village Green outdoor pools will offer all-day free entry every Friday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Beck Recreation Center gym
is closing at the end of May

The gymnasium at Beck Recreation Center will close at the end of the day on Saturday, May 31 as part of the planned phased closure of the center. Programs and activities in the gym, including basketball, badminton and pickleball, will be offered at other city of Aurora recreation centers following the closure.
The center will be closed in-full as of Friday, Aug. 1, 2025. Residents with memberships to Beck will automatically be given all-access passes for use at the city’s four other recreation centers for the duration of their membership.
