🎉 POWER UP 2025: Thank You for Joining Us! 🎉

We’re excited to share that POWER UP: Unlock Your Potential, held on June 20 at MB2 Entertainment, was a huge success!

Hosted by the Child & Family Center and DFY in SCV, the free event welcomed youth ages 11–17 for a fun, high-energy day focused on prevention, healthy choices, and personal growth. From laser tag and mini golf to interactive activities and peer connection, participants had a chance to learn, engage, and build positive skills in a supportive space.

Thank you to all the families who brought their youth to take part, we’re so glad they joined us.

We’re already looking forward to seeing everyone again at POWER UP 2026!

We had an incredible day at the Change. Heal. Thrive. Family Resource Fair this month. Families from across the community came out to enjoy free Kona Ice, fun activities, and connect with a wide range of local resource providers. The event focused on prevention education, wellness, and family support, and it was all made possible thanks to the power of community.

A special thank you to our wonderful host, Penny Lane Centers, and to our amazing partners who helped bring the day to life:

💙 Fight Fentanyl

💙 Parents Anonymous

💙 Let’s Make a Difference

💙 Tarzana Treatment Centers

💙 You Are Enough Foundation

💙 Pueblo y Salud, Inc.

…and all of our community partners who contributed their time, resources, and heart to make the event meaningful for every family who attended.

We’re so grateful to the families who joined us, and we look forward to celebrating community and connection with you again soon!

Celebrating Milestones and Team Excellence!

This month’s all-staff meeting at Child & Family Center was a celebration of dedication and achievement. We proudly honored Ann Adams for 30 years of outstanding service, recognizing her lasting impact on the lives of children and families.

We honored Dr. Morgan’s retirement, celebrating a career defined by compassion, dedication, and lasting impact. He will be missed!

Finally, we recognized our incredible team for their recent awards and accomplishments, reflecting the excellence and heart they bring to our mission every day.

Thank you to all who make Child & Family Center a place of hope and healing.

Honoring Our Staff’s Commitment to Our Community's Young Children

Child & Family Center is proud to recognize Heidi Viramontes, LCSW, and Sommer Mneimne, LCSW, for completing the 2024–25 UCLA Early Childhood Fellowship, an intensive, 10-month program focused on best practices in early childhood mental health.

Their work created valuable tools to support clinicians and families using the “Heart, Head & Hands” model. We also congratulate Dr. Amy Warren on being accepted into the upcoming 2025–26 cohort.

These accomplishments reflect our team’s dedication to excellence and our mission to support young children and families with compassion and expertise.

Chamber Business Expo 2025

The Child & Family Center's Marketing and Community Outreach team helped spread awareness about this year’s Annual Purple Walk Domestic Violence Awareness 5K, taking place on October 11, 2025- all in support of our domestic violence services and shelter.

At Child & Family Center, we recognize the importance of supporting men’s mental health and breaking the stigma around therapy. We stand with fathers, sons, brothers, partners, and male caregivers, reinforcing that “it’s okay not to be okay,” and that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Join us in this movement: reach out, listen, and normalize help-seeking. Together, we can ensure men in our community find the support they deserve.

Infant Mental Health Awareness

At Child & Family Center, our Early Childhood Mental Health Program supports infants, toddlers, and their families, many of whom have experienced trauma, through compassionate early intervention that fosters healing, resilience, and emotional well-being from the very start.

Here's a glimpse into May's impact:

- Conducted a total of 5,985 sessions

- Welcomed 72 new clients to our Center

- Celebrated the graduation of 118 clients from our services

- Provided support to 975 unique individuals
