Mahalo to the hundreds who joined us at our museum’s recent “Kama‘aina Sunday” event on April 19! The family-friendly event was held to celebrate the 126th Anniversary of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force.

Celebrated every April, the U.S. Submarine Force honors the day the United States Navy acquired its first submarine in 1900. PFSM recognized the historic event with free admission to local families and active-duty military to step inside a real World War II-era submarine, explore interactive exhibits, and enjoy engaging educational activities designed especially for keiki.

A special thank you to the various organizations that volunteered their time to provide exhibits and demonstrations for our museum visitors, including the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, the Waipahu High School JROTC team, the Celtic Kula Pipe Band, and many others.

Mahalo to Hawaii Parent Magazine for making us the cover story in their recent issue. Tap the link in our bio to learn why our family-friendly submarine museum provides options that are both educational and fun for kids of all ages.

And with our submarine museum celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, PFSM executive director Andrew “Homer” Ring was a recent guest on Hawaii News Now’s “The Rally Point” podcast to talk about the history of the Bowfin submarine and museum, as well as upcoming plans for the museum campus.

Our museum renovations is coming along nicely with several exhibits in our modern gallery already completed! While we’ll be working on other sections of the museum in the coming months, please know that the museum and Bowfin submarine remain open for visitors!
