Help Select the Next Generation of Physicians

Volunteer as an admissions interviewer and help identify the future physicians who will serve our communities. We're seeking alumni to participate in the 2026–2027 admissions cycle (September–January).

Have experience in rural or underserved medicine? Consider serving on our Rural Medicine Scholars Admissions Committee to help recruit physicians committed to caring for rural Utah and the Mountain West.

Volunteer Commitment

  • Four interview sessions during the admissions season
  • Morning or afternoon sessions available
  • Two-hour virtual training in August
  • Serve on the Standard MD or Rural Medicine Scholars Admissions Committee

Interested? Contact Jayme Crawford to learn more and find the committee that best aligns with your experience.

Carry the Legacy. Pass the Stethoscope. Power the Journey.

Each year, incoming MD students at the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine receive a stethoscope sponsored by the Alumni Association as they begin their medical education. More than an essential clinical tool, it symbolizes the support of the community that stands behind them from day one. Through the generosity of alumni and friends, this tradition helps equip future physicians for early clinical experiences while reminding them they are part of something larger than themselves.

Your gift of $250 sponsors one engraved stethoscope and supports annual student programming. Join us in passing on this tradition and welcoming our newest cohorts into the alumni community.

How AI, $1 billion, and a transparent fish could transform neuroscience

When Adam Douglass, PhD, began to study the tiny, transparent fish in the Danionella genus about 10 years ago, he had to get his animals from an out-of-state fish shop, where they were sold as an exotic pet breed. Now, he's using them as a model for how brain cells and circuits drive complex behaviors in vertebrates.
