🏠 Kern County Property Tax Bills Are Coming
Hi everyone,
Quick heads-up this week because Kern County property tax bills are coming out, and I know every year I get questions about them.
The biggest one is usually:
“Why are my taxes higher than my neighbor’s?” 😅
Even if the homes are similar, the tax bills can be completely different. A lot of it has to do with when you bought the property, your assessed value, and any special assessments added to the bill.
A couple of dates to remember:
December 10 – First installment deadline
April 10 – Second installment deadline
You definitely don't want to miss those. The county adds penalties for late payments.
Also, if you bought a home recently, don't freak out if another tax bill shows up. 😂
It could be a supplemental tax bill, which can happen after a property changes ownership and gets reassessed.
One important thing: even if your regular taxes are included with your mortgage payment, don't automatically assume your lender is taking care of a supplemental bill. The county sends supplemental bills to the property owner, so make sure you check with your lender.
If you want to check your property taxes or see what you owe, here's the Kern County website:

And while you're looking at your bill, you might see the county's assessed value for your property.
Just remember — that's not necessarily what your home would sell for today.
If you're curious what your home is actually worth in today's market, just reply to this email. I'll run the numbers for you.
No pressure. 👍
Have a great week!
