We welcomed our Kindergarten classes this week. Believe it or not, they are the Kings Class of 2037 and are 375 students strong!
We hope our new Kindergarteners have a great year!

Thank you Kings Transportation
Thank you for your patience and understanding with busing over the last week!
The Transportation Department has been working diligently to make sure the bus routes run smoothly. There are some construction delays and the usual first days of school delays (photos, etc.). We will continue to ask for some understanding and grace for our drivers who are doing their best to transport our precious Knights to and from school safely.

Kings Hires New Resource Coordinator
We welcome to our Kings Family, Lanie Wissel as the District's new Resource Coordinator.
The primary role of the Resource Coordinator is to meet with families to identify needs and then help connect them with available community resources. These resources may include clothing, shoes, school supplies, mental health and substance abuse counseling, mentoring/tutoring, and medical and financial assistance.
Lanie not only serves as a liaison between the school and community, but she will also help the relationships between the school and families, by assisting with free and reduced lunch applications and any non-academic barrier that can potentially impede a student’s success in school.
Mrs. Wissel said, "I am truly humbled to be at Kings this year and look forward to helping, both students and families, in any way possible. This is a strong community that I am honored to be welcomed into."
Her office is located at Kings HIgh School. She can be reached at 513-398-8050, ext. 15011 or lwissel@kingslocal.net.
If you see Lanie, make sure you welcome her with a warm Knight hello!

Tips for Erasing Back-to-School Anxiety
Below, Kings Social and Emotional Health Coordinator, Kim Sellers offers resources for parents regarding mental health disorders in children.

As summer ends, a mix of emotions can fill households. While some parents eagerly anticipate sending their kids back to school, and some kids look forward to reuniting with friends and teachers, this time of year can also be met with anxiety and frustration. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) offers some helpful tips for starting a great school year.
What You Can Do & Say if Concerned About Your Child’s Mental Health
All children experience feelings of anxiety, sadness, and irritability at times. Knowing what is common and what may indicate a more serious problem can be difficult. 1N5’s Caregiver Card can help. Caregiver Card (Spanish)

New Outdoor Classrooms at SLE
South Lebanon Elementary School has a new outdoor learning space thanks to the SLE PTO.
The PTO started planning the outdoor classroom project in late 2021. Construction began in 2022 with turf installation followed by tables and umbrellas. The sidewalks were installed in the summer of 2024 to complete the project!
Twelve tables make up the 2 classroom areas teachers often use to get SLE students outside for fresh air during instruction and work time! Thank you to the volunteers of the SLE PTO for their efforts to make this happen! It will be enjoyed by SLE students for years to come.

CIS Girl Scout Troop Volunteers at RMHC
Columbia Intermediate School sixth grade Girl Scout Troop #43678 has been volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House of Cincinnati for the past year.
The troop has had the opportunity to prepare and serve afternoon snacks for families who are staying there while their family member is a patient at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. In addition to volunteering, they have been collecting pop tabs to donate towards funding the RMHC, which provides lodging and housing completely free.
The troop put collection bins in the classrooms and shared spaces around Columbia and collected three huge bins, as well as an anonymous cash donation.
Pictured are Columbia sixth graders: Stella Nejman, Brynn Foley, Zoe Sovak, Allison Roewer, and Samantha Aliaga. Not pictured: Amelia Clark, Ava Coffing, Sophia Blanton, Lydia Fox, Taylor Kaminski, and Camryn Lee.

A limited number of hats will be available at KYO night tonight, Friday, August 23 at the Castle when our Knights take on the Sycamore Aves. Find us inside the stadium gates and be among the first Knight fans to get this limited-edition hat! Hats are $35 each. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.

In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.
Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!

We are looking to bolster our Kings Alumni database. Are you a Kings High School graduate or know someone who is? Please share the form with your fellow graduates. This will help our reunion committees and keep you updated on what is happening at your alma mater!
