Speak Out for Justice! - Focus On Civil Legal Aid

We are looking for content creators for the 2023-24 Speak Out for Justice! Focus on Civil Legal Aid Program. The purpose of this program is to support the LBF’s educational goals and show how vital the need for civil legal aid is to those who need it most. The LBF seeks to simultaneously engage with multiple content creators for this program. Each selected author/content creator will receive a $500 – $2,500 honorarium, depending on content.

The Justice Bus is Ready to Roll!

The LBF and the Lagniappe Law Lab announce the Justice Bus, a joint project, is ready to roll!


The bus was purchased in September 2022, and has been retrofitted to bring civil legal services through virtual self-help tools and physical resources to the public who need them the most.

Grants News

More than $12 Million in grants awarded for 2023-24.


·        The reinstated Building Capital Development (BCD) grant program assists with the purchase and/or renovation of a building for grantees.

·        LBF entered into an agreement with the state of Louisiana to fund Children in Need of Care and adult representation services for more than $4 million.

·        LBF entered into an agreement with the Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) to fund education, counseling, and direct representation aiding impoverished citizens in matters of title clearing (as it relates to homeowner foreclosure), foreclosure prevention, mediation, and mortgage loan modifications.

·        My Community Cares Grants (MCC) support the MCC Program which strengthens families and prevents child abuse and neglect preventing the need for foster care. Funding is for full-time attorney positions fully dedicated to MCC work.

·        2024-25 grant applications open October 1 and close December 1.

·        2024-25 LRAP and Kids’ Chance Scholarship applications open December 1 and close March 3, 2024.
