ARE WE READY FOR THE NEXT DEBBY?

Steve Suau PE, is the Former Sarasota County Executive Director of Planning and Development and Director of Stormwater Environmental Utility.  His goal in this presentation is to clarify the various causes of flooding and explain what can or cannot be done to avoid or mitigate flood damage.

Steve will provide resources for us to access in order to understand site specific flood conditions, therefore, empowering us to advocate for strategies which will reduce flood damage and lessen insurance claims.

EVENTS RECAP

Clean and Healthy Water

Should Be a Constitutional Right

Our current regulatory system is failing. Joseph Bonasia discussed the purpose of the proposed “Right to Clean and Healthy Waters” amendment, and explained how this amendment could fix our broken system.

Thanks to FloridaRightToCleanWater.org, lwvfl.org and those of you who have worked tirelessly to save our most precious natural resource, there is hope that this amendment will be on the 2026 ballot.

February 18th Report Card Indicates School Board is Not Responsive to Public's Concerns

"In general, it didn’t appear that the board actually heard what the public

was saying. Speakers over and over again asked the board to be

proactive regarding possible threats to federal programs that fund our

low income schools and special needs children, that they be ready with a

“Plan B”, that they speak up publicly as a board for the protection of our

children." Read full Report Card.
