❤️ Show Your Library Love this September ❤️

September is Love Your Library month and, thanks to the generosity of the Jack Buncher Foundation, all participating Allegheny County libraries will receive a pro-rated portion of a $200,000 match pool to support their general operations. Special thanks to NiSource Charitable Foundation and Columbia Gas for their additional match pool contributions.

This means that each donation made to the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall between September 1 and September 30, up to a maximum of $500 per donor, will count toward the match pool. Our goal for the month is $20,000 -- we did it last year, and with your help, we know we can do it again!

What's more: EVERY donation made to the Carnegie Carnegie during this time period will be matched by our 125th Milestone Matching Campaign, too, until we reach our $125,000 goal. We're SO close!

🌷 Join Us for Our Event of the Year

Our annual benefit returns in just a few weeks! Join us for a special 125th anniversary celebration as we transform the Library & Music Hall into The Secret Garden on September 25.

Inspired by the beloved 1911 children's novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, this year's event features a truly one-of-a-kind performance by Cello Fury and special guests in the Music Hall and an after party throughout our historic building.

2nd Saturday Civil War Series

September 12

We're back from our summer break and can't wait to welcome everyone back for our 2nd Saturday Civil War Series on September 12 with historian W. Hunter Lesser as he discusses Robert E. Lee's Feuding Generals: Wise vs. Floyd.

This is a riotous tale of two former Virginia governors and old political rivals who upend Confederate efforts to reclaim the western counties of the state in 1861.

Generals Henry Wise and John Floyd squabble like schoolboys -- even as Union forces march to annihilate them! Robert E. Lee is no match for their antics, leading to the loss of West Virginia and a scandal that stretches to the capitol in Richmond. Join us in person or online!

2027 Civil War Symposium 
Ticket Sales Opened!

We are thrilled to announce that our ninth annual Civil War symposium has been set for April 2 & 3, examining the pivotal month of June 1863: The Road to Gettysburg.

Confirmed speakers include Jim Hessler; Dr. Jennifer Murray; Wayne Motts; Ron Coddington; Jared Peatman; Robert R. O'Neill; Pete Miele; Evan Portman; and a live Podcast recording with Matt Callery of the Addressing Gettysburg podcast.

The weekend will include Civil War book sales and raffles, tastings and bottle sales with Arsenal Cider, and tours of the Captain Thomas Espy G.A.R. Post.

We can't wait to welcome everyone back to Carnegie in 2027!
