MGC Global Risk Advisory ('MGC Global') is delighted to be the knowledge partner with सबेरा SABERA 2021, which will recognize India’s responsible businesses, sustainable entities, non-profit organizations and leaders that champion sustainable development.
The SABERA Awards (Social and Business Enterprise Responsible Awards) acknowledge responsible businesses, social enterprises, purpose-driven leaders and efforts creating a sustainable social impact. These annual awards are a creditable initiative by Simply Suparnaa Media Network, which was founded in 2018 with the larger objective to amplify good and to recognize individuals and organisations that have been creating value & helping take forward the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (‘SDG’)s.
The platform, which has diverse stakeholders and is actively supported by industry stalwarts and policy influencers, hosts and builds a positive narrative of India’s success, by showcasing and acknowledging inspiring stories of impact and development.
The Jury
Ms Renu Sud Karnad, Managing Director HDFC Ltd will lead the jury this year and her predecessors who have chaired the SABERA Awards include Sanjeev Bikhchandani (Founder Chair Infoedge), Vinita Bali (Former Managing Director, Britannia) and Siraj Azmat Chaudhry (Managing Director & CEO, NCML).

Categories of awards
The following categories of awards have been proposed for SABERA 2021.
- Initiative awards;
-
Entity awards (for most responsible businesses & most promising responsible business); &
- Individual awards.
Each of the above has subcategories pertaining to initiatives undertaken in alignment with SDGs, individual changemakers challenging the status quo and responsible entities promoting ethical practices (including responsible ESG practices). In the latter a new sub-category - Promising Responsible Business has been introduced to include the start-up fraternity.

The process
The award winners will be finalized as per the evaluation criteria for the respective awards by the eminent board of jury through a two-tier process for the respective categories and recognized at a gala event, while their work will be highlighted through various traditional & social media platforms.
The first round will entail an online screening of entries and nominations to arrive at a shortlist of entries. This will followed by a physical jury meet to evaluate and choose the final awardees.
While an entry fee is applicable for specific categories, to encourage smaller enterprises this fee is subsidized or waived off according to the size of the organization. Please also refer to "Rules and Regulations".
