🐝 March 2026 - SPOTLIGHT Edition

Greetings!

Behind every gift is a story. This month’s Spotlight shares how donors are creating opportunity, honoring legacy, and strengthening our community for years to come.

Supporting Young Learners Locally

Strengthening support for young children and families.

A $110,000 grant from the Community Foundation to the DeKalb County Regional Office of Education is helping to support early learning efforts across the county over the next three years. Through initiatives like Basics DeKalb County and Kindergarten Readiness Toolkits, this work is helping thousands of local families build a strong foundation for school and life.

Honoring a Life of Service

A legacy of dedication continues through future officers.

The Jim Rhoades Law Enforcement Scholarship Fund, established in his memory by his family, will support DeKalb High School graduates pursuing careers in law enforcement. The Fund honors Jim Rhoades and carries forward his lifelong commitment to serving the community.

Strengthening Food Security Locally

A lasting investment in access to healthy food.

The Rooted for Good Endowment Fund, created by Jim and Kathy Lockard, will provide long-term support for Rooted for Good and its work to reduce food insecurity across DeKalb County. This Designated Fund ensures ongoing resources to help individuals and families access fresh, healthy food for years to come.
