Food Is Medicine: A Practical Grocery List for Wisconsin Families

March is National Nutrition Month, and at Pillar Health and Kenosha Community Health Center (KCHC), our message for 2026 is clear: Food Is Medicine.

The food we place in our grocery carts has the power to prevent disease, support mental health, strengthen immunity, and help our children grow. In Wisconsin, where heart disease, diabetes, and obesity remain serious health concerns, improving diet quality is one of the most effective ways to protect long-term wellness.

New State Law Expanding Postpartum Coverage Strengthens Care for Families

A new state law signed by Governor Tony Evers on March 18, 2026, expands postpartum care coverage under BadgerCare Plus, improving access to care for mothers and families in Racine.

The expanded coverage helps more women stay connected to care after childbirth and access essential preventative services for themselves and their newborns.

Pillar Health’s model addresses the critical gap in care after childbirth by providing continuous, integrated support for both mothers and infants. With expanded coverage, the clinic delivers ongoing postpartum care, behavioral health services, care coordination, and early pediatric support—all in one location—ensuring families stay connected to care during a vital time.

Pillar in the Community

In March, we wear blue for prevention.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when detected early. That’s why the Pillar Health crew is wearing blue this month to help spread awareness and encourage screenings.
