📖 New Adult Literacy Class in Pappireddynagar

New Adult Literacy Class

at Pappireddynagar

Carnevali Foundation is proud to announce that we have added an Adult Literacy Class at our Papireddynagar School.

It is modeled after our programs at Shiva Nagar and MA Nagar schools (previously funded by our Rotary WASH Grant).

Classes started on August 1, 2024 with only 2 students, but enrollment has quickly increased to 10 students. We anticipate more adults will be joining the class in the near future.

The adults (mostly mothers of Carnevali Students) are excited to learn letter identification and writing the native Telugu alphabet.

Recent Highlights

of the Carnevali Foundation

Independence Day Festivities

Independence Day is celebrated on August 15th in India

(when India was declared independent from British Colonialism).

At each of our schools the Headmistress hoists the Indian flag and leads the students in singing the National Anthem. Carnevali Foundation has constructed a Flag Stand in all of our schools and provides sweets and game prizes for this National Holiday.

Student Tutoring

Shashank, a volunteer from a local private high school, donates his time to tutor our middle school students. He assists at the Maktha School helping with Math and English instruction. Carnevali Foundation is just beginning to attract eager volunteers. This help is much appreciated by faculty and the students enjoy working with this young volunteer.

Crowded Classrooms

Families relocate based on where they are able to find work and student class sizes can be challenging. At times classes are very crowded until new teachers are assigned. Carnevali Foundation aims to have classes no greater than 30 students and is sometimes able to find and fund additional teachers. We appreciate volunteers that can play an important role to helping alleviate over-crowded classes.

Neighborhoods

These are two different neighborhoods where some of our students reside. It can be very challenging for parents to find employment and to maintain a home conducive to completing homework and staying clean. Our monthly newsletter generally presents a positive and upbeat view of Carnevali Foundation Schools and its students. Understanding the conditions in which most of our students reside helps to put into perspective the importance and the challenge of having a good education.
