A Message from Our Incoming President Elle Bisignano

As we begin the 2025-2026 year, I want to extend heartfelt gratitude to our outgoing co-presidents, Wendy Avner and Molly Jackson, for their leadership and dedication.

I also want to thank the entire 2024-2025 Board for their hard work and many contributions throughout the past year. Your time, energy and commitment have strengthened our Hearts of Miromar community. We are especially grateful to those who are continuing to serve on the Board this year - your dedication ensures a smooth transition and continued momentum.

I warmly welcome our incoming 2025-2026 Board and our volunteers. All you do keeps Hearts vibrant and thriving - we could not do this without you.

We start October with our luncheon on October 6, held at the Golf Club. We thank the Golf Club for hosting us while our Beach Club House continues its recovery from the fire. We are thankful to all of you who brought awareness to the unavailability of the Club House and who secured the Golf Club for our luncheon. As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our luncheon charity will be dedicated to breast cancer support, an especially meaningful cause in our community. Our speakers will focus on breast cancer prevention, treatments, and empowerment, offering valuable insights and inspiration.

With our luncheon, a Martini Mingle, and a Ruth's Chris Happy Hour, our activities are underway again beginning this month! These events are a wonderful chance to reconnect, enjoy each other's company, and share some fun together.

Welcome back and here's to a year filled with friendship, laughter, and memorable moments!

Join us for our November luncheon as we honor and hear from two incredible women who proudly served our country—one in the Air Force and one in the Marine Corps. These inspiring veterans from the Gulf Coast Veteran & Friends Organization will share their stories of service, sisterhood, and strength.

November Charity

Monday, November 10

Help us make the holidays brighter for kids in need! Join us in supporting the “Toys for Kids” charity, administered by the San Carlos Fire Department. They collect and distribute new toys to children who might otherwise go without a gift this season.

Join us for an afternoon of fun, friendship, and fabulous flavors at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse on Thursday, October 16 from 3:30 – 6:00 PM. We’ll gather in a private room reserved just for Hearts of Miromar members—perfect for mingling and making connections!

You’ll enjoy Ruth’s classic happy hour menu along with the option to order from the full dinner menu. Each guest will be responsible for their own food and beverages (cash payment preferred, if possible).

Coming solo or new to Hearts? Don’t be shy! 💖 Just look for the ladies wearing Hearts of Miromar name badges — they’d love to meet you and introduce you around.

No matter your martini style — classic, fruity, or alcohol-free — you’ll fit right in. Cheers to friendship and another sparkling season ahead! ✨

Our “What’s in Your Glass?” poll results are in — and it’s no surprise that wine takes the crown with 42%! 🍷 Coming in next with a splash of fun was the cocktail crowd (36%), followed by our mocktail mavens (12%), sparkling water sippers (6%), and one proud beer fan (3%). Cheers to everyone who joined in — no matter your pour, we love raising a glass together at Hearts events!

Needle Talk is Back!

Our beloved Needle Talk group resumes on Tuesday, October 14 at 1:30 PM in the Golf Club Women’s Lounge. Bring your projects, your creativity, and your love of good conversation. Whether you knit, crochet, stitch, or just enjoy the company, all are welcome to join in the fun! 

Book Club News

Our October book selection is Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, with discussion led by Denise Weiner. Gift from the Sea is a reflective and lyrical work that explores themes of solitude, love, and the complexities of modern life — all beautifully woven through the metaphor of the sea.

Denise encourages you to purchase your own copy so you can jot down thoughts and reflections as you read — this is a book you’ll likely return to again and again for fresh insights over the years.

We’ll meet on Monday, October 27, at 5:30 PM, currently scheduled for the Card Room at the Beach Clubhouse. Please note: the location may change if the clubhouse does not reopen, and we’ll keep you updated.
