Having finished the last chapter of our Study of the Book of Revelation, we have new topics to look at in the coming Sundays!
History of Halloween Forum
Halloween is just around the corner with all of its spooky decorations, candy, and fun costumes... But what is the relevance of this holiday to the church and people of Christian faith? This Sunday, October 20th, at 9:30 there will be a short presentation on the History of Halloween. Looking at this history, we will discuss how All Hallow's Eve can be a holy time in the church and explore its connection to the Vigil of All Saints.
November Book Study
Should Christians be politically withdrawn, avoiding participation in politics to maintain their prophetic voice? Should Christians be actively involved, seeking to utilize the political system to influence the levers of power?
During the month of November, we will be offering a book study on Jesus and the Powers by N.T. Wright and Michael F. Bird. In the often turbulent mix of political theology, scripture, and church history this book delves into what it means to claim Christ as king and have Jesus's kingdom the object of the church's work and witness.
Beginning on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 9:30 am there will be group discussions on the nature of political and civic engagement amid conflict, tension, and opposing views. Copies of Jesus and the Powers will soon be available in the book store.
